He was also the first producer for the "Now That's What I Call Music" campaign for Universal Music and Kids Bop for Razor and Tie. Venturing out again in 1996, Duane teamed up with many top record companies producing a myriad of TV spots for Brittany Spears, Janet Jackson, Cat Stevens, Johnny Cash, Billy Joel and many more including the ERA award-winning Pure Moods album. They went on to produce many award-winning infomercials and short form spots for Guthy-Renker, Interwood Marketing, Fitness Quest, Williams Worldwide, Quality Music, and more. In 1992 he partnered with the Production Partners to create a new DRTV division. In 1989, Duane started Phoenix Productions in Toronto specializing in DRTV production for a variety of Fortune 1000 companies including Time Life, National Geographic, Reader's Digest, Sony Music and more. How do these events affect a band in the long run? If you’re Fleetwood Mac you throw some killer synths on the album, do a lot of cocaine with all your exes, and keep going.Duane began his direct marketing career as a producer for ITV Productions, Edmonton and later as a Creative Director for Labuick Media of Orchard Park, NY. There’s a palpable difference in these two sets of personal eras – you can hear the thrill of devotion in Amelia Meath’s voice on Sylvan Esso’s first release since their marriage last summer while you can also hear the STFU bitterness in Dirty Projector’s first release post break up with longtime bandmate Amber Coffman. This week’s The 22 (mostly) looks at both sides of that extreme emotional spectrum: the divorce album and also what I like to call the honeymoon albums to see where it all began. The most interesting part of albums like these is how listeners like me are busy reading between the lines of the artists’ pained or joyful lyrics looking for insight into their unraveling or blossoming personal lives in some version of an aural reality show. Ryan Adams (aka FYMB BF) just released his excellent ‘post-divorce’ album Prisoner amongst some other recent releases that herald the end of a long term relationship and / or the beginning of a new one. Channels are noted in parentheses.Ġ4:10 – King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard (1) Change your settings if you are so inclined.įind the full schedule below. Also, we have our Spotify set to a crossfade (this one was made with an 8-second crossfade) which we think gives the list a really fluid feel. We arrange these lists to listen to straight through, but if you have to shuffle we won’t judge. Oh, and just a couple listening suggestions. In addition, we’re launching the FuckYeahMusicBlog Spotify profile, so you can easily follow us and get your new list every week. Every week, we’ll be sharing a new set of 22 tracks, spanning different genres and decades. It’s full of the hand clapping that will strut you down the street in your short shorts and the disco tropicana to make you think that your weekend staycation is on another more southernly island. This week’s The 22 is a run out the door and rip off your tie and replace it with a crop top playlist. It signifies the beginning of summer in the city and also an uptick in my consumption of happy hour rose. My favorite time of the year is when my day job’s office closes early on Friday afternoons. In that spirit, and in keeping with the shifting guideposts of the musical tone of the show, I’ve created a list that puts you right there in a booth at the Bang Bang Bar, slowly drinking a beer with some random psychopath, looking around for James to walk in, because James has always been cool. But that’s Lynch - he doesn’t give a fuck about your expectations or your desires, because the world at large doesn’t give a fuck about them. Seriously, its almost laughable to see bands like Nine Inch Nails casually playing a gig in a town of a few thousand. The Mecca of music in the world of Twin Peaks is the Bang Bang Bar - the epitome of small town dive bars, but with, like, an insane performance calendar. While some of the bigger components have always been heavy, lingering synths, heavily reverbed guitar plucks, and a nice croon, this new incarnation is stretching those boundaries…somewhat. Lynch is not only the writer and director of the series, but he’s also the sound designer, and he plays a big role in exactly what music is used and when. One of the best things about the Twin Peaks canon, and this new series specifically, is the way that a very specific cross-section of musical genres defines the tone of the work. David Lynch’s revival of Twin Peaks has been an astonishing feat of filmmaking, and though it is at times a vast departure from the camp of the original series, it’s still undeniably, unflinchingly Lynch. We’re fucking dragon-crazed as a society right now. We’re here today, though, to talk about the other big show on right now that is not Game of Thrones. This summer has been dominated by dragons.
